Elizabeth Musberger Birtwell

Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth (Musberger) Birtwell were held Friday afternoon from the home of her daughter, Mrs. Permelia Raymond in Streator, with Rev. E.W. Smith officiating.  Burial took place in Wolf Creek cemetery in Otter Creek.  Mrs. Birtwell was born in Cincinnati on March 14, 1850.  When she was two months old, her parents were struck with Cholera.  She was raised by relatives and when she was sixteen years old she made the trip to this vicinity to live with half-brother John Horn.

She is the last of her immediate family of brothers and sisters.  A brother George Musburger, a pioneer of this community died eight years ago in North Dakota.  Following her marriage, the couple resisted on the farm in this vicinity on which her son, Elgy now resides.  She leaves two children, Permilia Raymond and Elgy Birtwell.  There are three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  Her husband preceded her in death in 1915.  Complications and infirmities of old age from which she has suffered the past eight months were the cause of her death.
